CITY OF REDONDO BEACH
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE FOLLOWING MATTER AT A REGULAR MEETING OF SAID CITY COUNCIL. ANY AND ALL INTERESTED PERSONS MAY APPEAR AND BE HEARD.
MATTER FOR DISCUSSION: Public hearing to review and consider approval of Administrative Design Review and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Addendum and Exemptions for hotel renovation designs pursuant to the Settlement Agreement executed between Legado Redondo LLC and the City of Redondo Beach on September 19, 2017 for the existing 64,550 square-foot hotel located within a Mixed Use (MU-3A) zone.
Proposed renovation plans include (1) reorienting the front entrance of the hotel to the location of the existing restaurant, (2) relocating the restaurant to the second floor, and (3) relocating the existing pool from the north eastern portion of the project to a roof deck above the restaurant in the south eastern portion of the project site, (4) refacing/remodeling both the interior and exterior, and (5) a slight reduction in square footage in total building area (approximately 100 sf). LOCATION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: 1700 S. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach (former Palos Verdes Inn building).
CITY COUNCIL HEARING: The City Council of the City of Redondo Beach is scheduled to hold a hearing on this item at a Regular Meeting to take place on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the City Council Chambers, 415 Diamond Street, Redondo Beach CA, 90277.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW: An additional Addendum to the Final Revised Initial Study-Mitigated Negative Declaration has been prepared. The additional Addendum confirms that there will be no new significant impacts related to the proposed hotel renovations. The Final Revised IS-MND and first Addendum for the Legado Mixed-Use Project were originally approved by the City Council on October 17, 2017. CEQA Statutory and Categorical Exemptions have also been proposed for adoption.
DOCUMENT AVAILABILITY: The architectural renderings, Addendum to the Final Revised IS-MND, and Exemptions for the proposed hotel renovation designs are available for review at the following locations:
1) Planning Division counter, 415 Diamond Street, Door E, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. City Hall is closed every other Friday.
2) Main Library Information Desk, 303 N. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 during operating hours for the Main Library.
3) City website at www.redondo.org (navigate to Departments > Community Development and click on the Legado Redondo Hotel news item link).
The Administrative Report will be available 72 hours prior to the City Council meeting in accordance with State law and local ordinance, in the Planning Division office and the City website at www.redondo.org (navigate to Departments > Mayor & City Council > Agenda & Minutes).
