How do I obtain a copy of a police report?
Who may obtain a copy of a crime report?
- The victim(s)
- An authorized representative of the victim
- Any person suffering bodily injury, property damage or loss
- An insurance carrier against which a claim has been made and/or might be made
What is required to obtain a copy of a crime report?
- Photo Identification (one of the following):
- State or Federal identification card
- Driver license
- Passport
- Other identification accepted by the Redondo Beach Police Department depending on the type of report
- A completed Request for Reports/Records form
What are the fees to obtain a copy of a crime report?
- The fee for a crime report is $20.00
- The victims of crimes are not required to pay a fee

When are copies of crime and incident reports available for release to the public?
- Crime reports are usually available three to five days after an officer writes the report.
- Conditions for release of crime reports
- A report with no suspect information
- A citizen-authored incident/crime report
- A lost or found property report
- An incident report generated by a call for service when a crime was not documented
- Crime reports will not be released if the disclosure would
- Endanger the safety of a witness or other involved party
- Endanger the successful completion of the investigation or related investigations
If I am a suspect named in the crime report, can I obtain a copy of the crime report from the Police Department?
- A suspect/arrestee named in a crime report for a pending case may not obtain a copy of the crime report from the police department.
- An arrestee named in a crime report for a pending case may obtain a copy of the crime report through the discovery process at the court.
- If the charge is a felony, contact the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office at (310) 222-3552.
- If the charge is a misdemeanor or infraction, contact the Redondo Beach City Prosecutor's Office at (310) 379-2477 x 12376.
- A suspect may obtain a copy of a crime report after the case has been adjudicated. Redactions will be made to comply with state and federal law.
How do I report a burglary?
If this is happening now, call 9-1-1. You will be asked questions that will assist the officers in apprehending the suspect(s).
If you have just discovered a burglary that has already occurred, call the Police Department at 310-379-5411.
How do I report child abuse?

If this is not happening now, but you desire a police report, call the Police Department at 310-379-5411.
If you do not want to call either of the above numbers, you may also call the Department of Children and Family Services Child Abuse Hotline at 800-540-4400.

How do I report drug dealing?
To report drug dealing that is happening right now, call the Police Department at 310-379-5411.
To provide Detectives with information on suspected drug dealing, call 310-379-2477, Ext. 2640.

How/When do I use Small Claims Court
You can contact the Small Claims Court at (310) 419-1396. The Small Claims Court is located at the Inglewood Courthouse located at One Regent Street, Inglewood, CA. The courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Clerk's Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except court holidays. Small Claims Court handles civil cases asking for $10,000.00 or less. Small Claims Court is designed to be simple, quick, and cost less than a regular civil lawsuit. In Small Claims Court there are: No lawyers; No rules of evidence and No juries. If you are suing, then you are the plaintiff. If you are being sued, then you are the defendant. Both the plaintiff and defendant can be called claimant or parties.
