Volunteers In Policing (VIP)

The Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Program began in 1994 as part of the Community Based Policing Concept.  The goal of the Police Department is to create a partnership with members of the community who can assist us with specific law enforcement tasks.  Now, over fourteen years later, the program continues to be an integral part of the Police Department, with volunteers being responsible for such tasks as:

  • Vacation Checks
  • Issuing citations for Volunteer Car
    Disabled Parking violations
  • Graffiti Reporting and Documentation
    (Including Photographs)    
  • Relations at Special Events
    (Public Safety Fair, etc.)
  • Park/School Patrols
  • Traffic Control on Special Events,
    Superbowl 10K Run, July 4th
    Firecracker 5K Run, etc. 
  • Disaster Response                   
  • South Bay Galleria Patrol
  • Alarm Card Verification
