The Redondo Beach Citizen Police Academy provides members of the community with a working knowledge of the police department, along with the roles and responsibilities of its police officers. The goals of the program are accomplished through lectures, hands-on training, demonstrations and a ride-along with a police officer. Participants meet for three hours, one night per week, for 13 weeks. The information covered includes: Police Training S.W.A.T. Traffic Enforcement Criminal Investigations Police Patrol & Ride-Along K-9 Demonstrations Gangs Vice & Narcotics Community Relations (COPPS) Crime Scene Investigations Firearms and the Police Range Police Dispatch & Communications Pier & Harbor Patrol The Jail & Justice System Classes are conducted in the spring and fall of each year. The police department accepts applications on a continual basis.
