The Redondo Beach Police Foundation (RBPF) is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves as a community partner to the Redondo Beach Police Department to help make Redondo Beach, the most innovative and safest city in the region. By providing resources and support to the Redondo Beach Police Department, the Foundation plays a critical role in taking public safety beyond what our government tax dollars will allow. Technology is rapidly evolving and equipment gets worn. Community policing through innovative and creative programs and initiatives require funding. The Redondo Beach Police Foundation issues grants to our local police department so our men and women in blue have the best training, equipment and programs to perform at their highest level.
The Redondo Beach Police Foundation (RBPF) is governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of business leaders, civic leaders and concerned citizens who are invested in the public safety of Redondo Beach. As an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Foundation depends entirely on the generosity of corporations, businesses, individuals, foundations, and other philanthropic organizations to support its operations and grant program. Wounded Heroes of America
Although we usually began our relationships with some measure of financial assistance, the glue that keeps us together is the fellowship we have created among our Combat Wounded Vets.
At Wounded Heroes of America, we like to put the bottom line on top. Our mission is to help Combat Wounded Vets from Iraq and Afghanistan in whatever ways we can. We seek to offer:
- Financial Assistance
- Help fighting depression and loneliness
- Fellowship and sense of belonging.
- Gratitude for the sacrifices our heroes have made.
- Education about the challenges combat wounded face.
Meet your team members when the teams are announced at 8am on the morning of “The Line Up”. You can register individually or for your team (up to five people) in advance on our website. We will assign a Special Olympic Athlete, Veterans Organization or Police Officer to each team. Number of participants are limited. Advance registration online or in person is REQUIRED.
Heats will be posted in advance on our website. You should receive an email confirmation with heat time on Friday before the contest.
Check-In and Board Selection: At least 15 minutes before your heat, gather your team members and meet at the Registration Table. Being there 15 minutes before your heat is mandatory for the day to run smoothly. Please know your heat time, gather your team members and please be on time.
Scoring: Each wave will be scored by three judges on a scale of 1 to 10. You can surf a maximum of 3 waves. Only the highest wave score will count and be added to your Team total. In relay fashion, there will be 5 bonus points for the first team to finish.
First Heat: All teams will meet at their Team Tent. One person from each team will start and can catch a maximum of 3 waves. They will be scored on their best wave. Each surfer on the team will be scored with their highest scoring wave counting toward the team total. Six people must have surfed with the allotted time of one hour. Approximately, 10 minutes per surfer. Teams are encouraged to help each other to ensure that each member gets at least one wave. The top three teams with the higher cumulative team score will advance to the next round.
Listen for the double horn to end the heat. A single horn indicates 5 minutes left in the heat. Please wait at the water’s edge to paddle out at the start of your turn. At the end of your ride (2 horns), please ride in prone position (to not confuse the judges) to the beach quickly so the next heat can get started.
Return your contest jersey to the proper bin and surfboard to the Team Tent area at the end of your heat.
