Bus Pass Subsidy

The City of Redondo Beach subsidizes BCT Senior/Disabled passes and Student (K-12) bus passes for Redondo Beach and Lawndale residents. Redondo Beach residents are eligible for EZ monthly pass or monthly stored value subsidies for Metro fares.

To qualify for the reduced-rate bus pass or stored value subsidy program provide the following items to the City Hall Transit Administrative Office in person, or via mail or email:

  • Proof-of-residency: Current utility bill (i.e., gas, water, electric).
  • BCT student pass (K-12): current school identification card and proof of residency.
  • Records are updated annually on July 1st.

Passes are sold Monday through Friday except on holidays and alternate Fridays (City Hall closures) at the Transit Office - 415 Diamond St., Door 2, Redondo Beach. 

BEACH CITIES TRANSIT BUS PASS SUBSIDY PROGRAM

Persons interested in obtaining a BCT monthly pass must complete an application for a BCT Identification Card.  Applications may be submitted by mail, email or in person.  BCT monthly pass stickers are affixed to the BCT ID card).

You are encouraged to purchase BCT bus passes by mail by the 15th of the prior month. Current proof-of-residency, an order form, and a self-addressed envelope for each month purchased are required. Passes are mailed on the 25th of the month so that you receive the pass on or before the 1st of the following month.

The BCT Monthly Bus Pass Subsidy program is for eligible Redondo Beach and Lawndale residents purchasing Senior/Disabled or Student (K-12) passes.  General Pass subsidies are only available to Lawndale residents.

General Pass - Lawndale Resident Subsidy: If you are a Lawndale resident, purchasing a BCT GENERAL reduced fare bus pass, you must complete all the requirements of the BCT GENERAL Application

Student Pass - Redondo Beach Or Lawndale Subsidy: If you are a student purchasing a BCT Student reduced fare bus pass, you must complete all the requirements of the BCT STUDENT Application, and provide a current school identification card and . Parent/guardian residency documentation is required.

Senior/Disabled Pass - Redondo Beach or Lawndale Subsidy: If you are a senior or disabled person purchasing a BCT Senior/Disabled reduced fare bus pass, you must complete all the requirements of the BCT SENIOR/DISABLED Application, provide current age and identification, such as California Drivers License/ID or Medicare Card. Disabled eligibility can be verified with a Metro Disabled TAP ID card, DMV Disabled ID, Medicare or SSDI.

MTA EZ Bus Pass and Subsidy


The City of Redondo Beach provides Redondo Beach residents a reduced-rate METRO EZ pass or stored value subsidy.

To purchase a Senior/Disabled monthly EZ pass, you must have a Metro Senior/Disabled TAP card.   The monthly EZ pass is discounted by $20.  The bus pass price will not be reduced if current proof-of-residency is not presented when purchasing passes or on file with the Transit Division.

EZ PASS

Travel all around Los Angeles County without the hassle of buying transfers or looking for extra change by using the EZ monthly transit pass. Over 24 Los Angeles County transit agencies accept the EZ pass for fare payment and no transfer fare is necessary with the EZ pass transit services. The EZ transit pass is valid between the first day through the last day of each month.  The EZ pass (Zone 0) is just $110, or $90 for Redondo Beach residents with proof of residency.
