Redondo Beach is primarily a residential community with a population of 63,261in an area of 6.35 square miles. The median price of a single family home is $785,000. The City manages its own public safety with 109 police officers and 67 firefighters, paramedics and harbor patrol officers. There are fifteen parks, thirteen parkettes, a recreational waterfront featuring two miles of sandy beaches, the Redondo Beach Pier and King Harbor area, two libraries, five community centers and a 1,400 seat performing arts theater – home of the award-winning CivicLight Opera of South Bay.
