The City of Redondo Beach has existing franchise agreements with four taxicab companies operating a total of 160 licensed taxicab vehicles approved for operation in Redondo Beach.  Only these four companies are authorized to pick up within Redondo Beach city limits.

The taxicab vehicles are identified by an official City of Redondo Beach Taxi decal that is visibly displayed on the rear of the vehicle.  Each vehicle issued a decal is fully insured and is inspected annually.   Taxi drivers must obtain a driver permit that is renewed annually by the City.  The drivers are also subject to background checks.

Many of these vehicles are also approved to operate in adjacent jurisdictions including the cities of Los Angeles, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale, and Torrance.

Taxi Rates

• $2.85 initial drop rate when you enter the cab • $.30 for each additional 1/9th mile or part • $.30 each 37 seconds waiting time and/or traffic delay ($29.19/hour wait) • $15.00 minimum taxi fare plus an airport surcharge of $4.00 for all trips leaving LAX.
