Programs
Senior and Family Services sponsors a number of support groups and educational programs which are offered on an on-going basis.
Adaptive Mobility/Post –Stroke Support Group: Meets Mondays from 1-3 at Anderson Park Senior Center, 3007 Vail Avenue in Redondo Beach. Group works on re-education of motor skills, plays seated volleyball, dominos and games.
Genealogy Group: Meets 2nd Monday of the month, 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at Veterans Park Senior Center.
Homeowners and Renters Assistance: Free help for older adults filing Homeowners and Renters Assistance forms is available by appointment on Thursday at North Park Senior Center, 3007 Vail in Redondo Beach. Senior and Family Services is the site sponsor and appointments can be made by calling 310-318-0650. Trained volunteers provide assistance starting the first week of July through mid-August. The Homeowner and Renter Assistance Program provides help to person who are 62 or older, blind or disabled, and whose income is under $39,699. The Homeowner Assistance Program allows qualified homeowners to receive a once-a-year reimbursement based on a portion of the property taxes assessed on their home. The Renter Assistance Program allows qualified renters to receive a once-a-year reimbursement based on a portion of the property taxes paid indirectly through rent payments. The State of California provides both reimbursements. To qualify for either program you must meet he above income and age/disability requirements and be either a United State citizen; or a designated alien; or a qualified alien.
Income Tax Assistance: Free assistance filing income tax returns for older adults and disabled persons. Assistance with federal and state tax returns. Volunteers are trained by the franchise Tax Board and Internal Revenue Service and provide assistance on Thursdays by appointment at North Park Senior Center in Anderson Park, 3007 Vail. Simple returns only. Taxpayers who want free help should bring the tax instruction booklets and forms they received in the mail, records of income and deductions, including Forms W-2 and W-2P, statements showing interest and dividends and other pertinent records. Call Senior and Family Services at 310-318-0650 for an appointment. Appointments run from early February until April 15th.
Legal Assurance: Free 20 minute appointment for older adults. Lawyers come out one Wednesday a month to the Knob Hill Community Center at 320 Knob Hill Avenue in Redondo Beach. Call to make reservation.
Needle Arts Group: Meets Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. – noon, at North Redondo Senior Center in Perry Park, 2308 Rockefeller Lane in Redondo Beach. Receive help on projects of your choice.
SCORE (Senior Community on Resources and Education): Meets quaterly on the Last Monday of the month from 1-3 p.m. at the Knob Hill Community Center, 320 Knob Hill in Redondo Beach. Topics and speakers vary. Call for dates and topic.
Theatre Goers Group: Meets on 1st Monday of the month 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Veterans Park Senior Center.

Computer Classes: Beginning level computer classes are offered at Veterans Park Senior Center. Call 310-318-0650 for class dates and times.
Line Dance Classes: Tuesdays at 9:15 a.m. at Veterans Park Senior Center; cost - $2/session. Thursdays at Anderson Park Senior Center, 3007 Vail. cost $3/session.
Tai Chi Class: Meets in Veterans Park on Wednesdays (Level 1) 5-6 p.m. and Thursdays (Level 2) 10-11 a.m. Call for next class session start date. Also Offered at Anderson Park Senior Center Fridays at 9:30 a.m. Ongoing.
