This summer Nintendo invited players of all ages and backgrounds across the country to get up and get playing through Wii Games: Summer 2010 events.  These events spanned 24 markets across the nation, conducting local tournament competitions and offering up ways for general consumers to join in the fun.  Lucky for us, the final event will be culminating right here in Redondo Beach at the national championship, Sept. 3rd-5th.

The City of Redondo Beach is offering camps to coordinate with the new 2010-2011 RBUSD elementary school non-student days. Children ages 6-12 will have the opportunity to play and exercise in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment.   Activities include indoor and outdoor games, contests, special events, arts-n-crafts, and water play when appropriate. Programs offered are listed below. Holidays, teacher in-service days, and trimester breaks are not covered. All camp hours are from 8am to 6pm. Due to program budget constraints, there will be a limited number of Fee Waivers (60) issued for the Afterschool Playground Program for the 2010-11 school year. Once the limit has been reached, applicants can apply for a Dream Come True Scholarship (DCT), which awards $100 per child, per year. Afterschool Playground Registration will begin August 16th and will continue throughout the year.

The City of Redondo Beach Public Art Program invites artists to submit a resume, previous work samples and a proposed color rendering for a mural project for the Field House located at Aviation Park, 1935 Aviation Boulevard, Redondo Beach, CA.

Who: The Aviation Park features a track and field used by the public and sports and business groups.  Aviation Park is a high traffic area for the public seeking recreational experiences and it also serves as one of the gateway entrances to the City.
