Community Development Block Grant  (CDBG)

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program was established by Congress under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.  The City of Redondo Beach receives annual CDBG funding from the federal government's U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

As a result of the annual funding, the City offers the following two programs:

Commercial Rehabilitation Program
Home Improvement Program

In addition to the CDBG funding, the City’s Redevelopment Agency also provides funds for the Home Improvement Program.

Commercial Rehabilitation Program
The Commercial Rehabilitation Program is available to either a landlord or business tenant and is designed to improve the appearance of business properties within the Artesia Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard target area.

Eligible improvements to commercial storefronts include new signs, awnings, exterior painting, roof repairs, etc. The program will fund 60% of the cost of eligible improvements to either a landlord or business tenant applicant.  In addition, $2,000 grants are available for code corrections and $2,000 for design services.
