Recreation and Community Services

The Recreation and Community Services Department provides a wide variety of programs and services to Redondo Beach residents.  Recreational programs include classes and camps, adult sports leagues, after school and summer playgrounds, summer swim and performing arts.  There are recreation programs for the disabled and teens, and a broad variety of activities and programs for senior citizens.

The Department is also responsible for the management  of the parks and community facilities.  Major parks include Aviation Park, Anderson Park, Perry Park, Dominguez Park, Veterans Park, Alta Vista Park, Seaside Lagoon and Wilderness Park.  Community facilities include the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, senior citizen centers, the Perry Park Teen Center, Franklin Community Center, Knob Hill Community Center, Historical Museum, Alta Vista Community Center and tennis facilities and the Veterans Park Community Center.

Another important function is the administration of federal and state grants that provide housing services, job training and placement services, counseling for youth and parenting classes.  These grants include the Housing Authority, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Workforce Investment Act (W.I.A) and South Bay Youth Project (SBYP).
