All businesses interested in receiving more information about the Organics Recycling (food scrap) in the City should contact Athens Services at (888) 336-6100. Food scraps will be collected from commercial food establishments and taken to a composting facility. Locations that generate food scraps will be provided training and receptacles based on the amount of food scraps that are generated. Multi-family customers can opt to participate in the composting program by paying an additional fee. Please contact Athens Services for further information: (888) 336-6100.
All yard trimmings, food scraps, food soiled paper and organics is collected in the green cart. No dirt or sod are allowed. Please do not over load the carts Lids should not be open more than 3 inches and should not exceed a weight limit of 150 lbs.
PLEASE DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS IN THE GREEN CART! Only compostable bags can be used to dispose of the food scraps. Compostable bags can be purchased at:
If your favorite Redondo Beach grocery or drug store does not carry compostable bags, please call the Public Works Department to let us know at (310) 318-0686, ext. 4193. Also mention your request to the Store Manager as they may be unaware of the product demand.
