Citizen Police Academy
The Redondo Beach Citizen Police Academy provides members of the community with a working knowledge of the police department, along with the roles and responsibilities of its police officers. The goals of the program are accomplished through lectures, hands-on training, demonstrations and a ride-along with a police officer.
Participants meet for three hours, one night per week, for 13 weeks. The information covered includes:

- Police Patrol & Ride-Along
- K-9 Demonstrations
- Gangs
- Vice & Narcotics
- Crime Scene Investigations
- Firearms and the Police Range

- Pier & Harbor Patrol
- The Jail & Justice System
Classes are conducted in the spring and fall of each year. The police department accepts applications on a continual basis.
