Attempt Homicide

On Friday, July 27, 2001 at 9:14 a.m., an employee of Chez Melange Restaurant, 1716 S. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, called t report a shooting.  The employee said that another employee had shot one of his co-workers in the kitchen of the restaurant.

Responding officers arrived moments later and discovered the victim still in the kitchen with a minor wound to his head.  Officers also established that the subject who fired the shot had fled the restaurant in his car.

During the interview of the victim it was learned that the subject had a verbal altercation at work earlier in the day.  The subject returned to work several hours later, pulled a handgun and pointed it at his head.  The victim was able to deflect the subjects arm just prior to the gun discharging and the bullet lodged in the ceiling. The subject then pistol-whipped the victim and fled.

Through witness information, officers learned of the subject’s vehicle description and his possible destination.  Redondo Beach Police officers responded to an address in the City of Harbor City where the subject was located and taken into custody without incident. Felipe Rodriguez Iniguez, a 26 year old resident of Harbor City, was arrested for attempt Homicide as well as a variety of gun charges.

This press release was prepared by Sergeant Todd Heywood. For further information contact Detective Sergeant Phil Keenan at 310-379-2477 extension 2309.
