Attempt Homicide
On
Friday, July 27, 2001 at 9:14 a.m., an employee of Chez Melange Restaurant, 1716
S. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, called t report a shooting. The
employee said that another employee had shot one of his co-workers in the
kitchen of the restaurant.
Responding officers arrived moments later and discovered the victim still in the
kitchen with a minor wound to his head. Officers also established that the
subject who fired the shot had fled the restaurant in his car.
During
the interview of the victim it was learned that the subject had a verbal
altercation at work earlier in the day. The subject returned to work several
hours later, pulled a handgun and pointed it at his head. The victim was able
to deflect the subjects arm just prior to the gun discharging and the bullet
lodged in the ceiling. The subject then pistol-whipped the victim and fled.
Through
witness information, officers learned of the subject’s vehicle description and
his possible destination. Redondo Beach Police officers responded to an address
in the City of Harbor City where the subject was located and taken into custody
without incident. Felipe Rodriguez Iniguez, a 26 year old resident of Harbor
City, was arrested for attempt Homicide as well as a variety of gun charges.
