Leo Cienfuegos back in custody
Leo
Cienfuegos who was prematurely released from custody, on charges of false
imprisonment, terrorist threats and weapons charges, was re-arrested on Monday,
April 9, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. in the City of Los Angeles. Cienfuegos, who was
originally arrested on March 23, 2001 and released on $65,000 bail on Sunday,
March 25, 2001, was re-arrested in Los Angeles after a two-week effort to bring
him back into custody.
Detectives from the Redonod Beach Police Department Investigations Division had
been actively searching for Cienfuegos since an arrest warrant was issued. A
surveillance had been set up on known locations in his neighborhood, located in
the Northeast area of Los Angeles.
On
Monday, April 9, 2001 at 7:30 p.m., Cienfuegos was seen in a vehicle in the area
of the surveillance. Redondo Beach Detectives along with L.A.P.D. Northeast
Division Patrol Officers stopped and arrested Cienfuegos. Once again,
Cienfuegos was found armed with a loaded handgun. Leo Cienfuegos was taken to
the Redondo Beach Police Department and booked on the original charges plus his
new weapons charges. He is presently being held on no bail.
