Chief of Police

The Chief of Police is the chief executive officer of the department and the final departmental authority in all matters of policy, operation and discipline. The Chief exercises all lawful powers of the office and issues such lawful orders as are necessary to assure the effective performance of the department.

Through the Chief of Police, the department is responsible for the enforcement of all laws and ordinances coming within its legal jurisdiction. The Chief of Police is responsible for the entire departments operations, as well as the departments relations with the citizens of Redondo Beach, the city government and other agencies. In order to accomplish these tasks, the department is organized into two bureaus and a number of divisions and sub-units.

The success of a police force in the performance of its duties is largely measured by the degree of support and cooperation it receives from the people of the community which it serves. It is important to secure the confidence and respect of the public. The Redondo Beach Police Department prides itself on its close working relationship with the community and other policing agencies. Only through cooperation, innovation, creativity, and community partnership will we be able to keep this a SAFE CITY in which to live, work, and recreate.

Please feel free to surf through our newly re-designed website. We are, after all, the premier beach city in Los Angeles County.
