About the Planning Division

The Planning Division consists of the Planning administration and Code Enforcement.

The Planning Division is responsible for administering long-range and current planning programs, as guided by the adopted General Plan and Zoning Ordinance. Specific programs of the Planning Division include:

  • Development Review
  • Maintaining and updating the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance
  • Special Projects (e.g. Residential Design Standards, Heart of the City Specific Plan, etc.)
  • Administration of the Historic Preservation Program
  • Service as a resource to the citizens, as well as other departments and agencies, regarding planning matters within the community.

Code Enforcement programs enhance the quality of life in Redondo Beach through the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance and Building Code.  (NOTE: enforcement of parking regulations and animal control regulations are administered through the Police Department.)

Mission Statement: The Planning Division is committed to providing high-quality, proactive services and programs to enhance the quality of life of residents, businesses and visitors, and to promote a well-designed, physically integrated, livable and prosperous community consistent with citizens' long-range vision.

1700 S. Pacific Coast Hwy. Mixed-Use Project Public Hearing Postponed
November 7, 2014  The Public Hearing for the proposed Mixed-Use Project at 1700 S. Pacific Coast Hwy. originally scheduled for Thursday November 20, 2014 is postponed.  Click below for more information, a link to the Notice of Postponement, and access to the Initial Study and Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration.

Waterfront Revitalization Scoping Process Summary and Comments are now available
August 12, 2014  The City is initiating an environmental study of the proposed Waterfront Project.  Click the link for more information and to view related documents including the Draft Initial Study and summary information from the scoping process which took place from June to July 2014.
