Fire Sprinkler Recall

Central Sprinkler Company, an affiliate of Tyco Fire Products LP, Landsdale, PA and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are announcing a voluntary recall to replace approximately 35 million fire sprinkler heads constructed with rubber O-Ring seals and manufactured by Central Fire Sprinkler.

A limited number of O-Ring type models sold by Gem Sprinkler Company and Star Sprinkler, Inc. totaling about 167,000 sprinkler heads is also included in the recall.

Under certain circumstances the rubber O-Ring prevents the sprinkler head from activating properly or not at all during a fire. These sprinkler heads were installed in a wide variety of building structures including houses, apartments, hospitals, day care facilities, schools, dormitories, nursing homes, supermarkets, hotels, parking garages, warehouses and offices.

Central Fire Sprinkler Company will provide new replacement sprinkler heads, free of charge as well as labor costs associated with having them installed. The program will be phased in over time in an orderly process that best serves the public interest.

For assistance in identifying your sprinklers and to obtain your complete notice packet, please call (800) 871-3492 or visit on-line www.sprinklerreplacement.com or www.cpsc.gov.
