City Manager's Bio

City Manager, Bill Workman

Prior to accepting the position as City Manager for the City of Redondo Beach, Bill Workman served for four years as the Assistant City Administrator for the City of Huntington Beach, California. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of Surf City a full service municipality with 200,000 residents, a harbor and 8 miles of coastal beaches.

Prior to his service in Huntington Beach, Bill spent 10 years working for the Cityof Corona, California, as Assistant City Manager and City Manager. He has also worked as the General Manager of the Yorba Linda Water District, Assistant City Manager of Oceanside, and Assistant to the City Manager of Glendora.

During the course of his career, he developed expertise in public finance & budgeting, organizational development, team building, economic development and strategic planning. Bill has spoken in many venues including the League of California Cities Annual Conference, FBI Academy Associates Conference, Chamber of Commerce Workshops and Congressional Committees.

Additionally, he has served as a Planning Commissioner, Rotary Club President and American Cancer Society Division President. In 1998, he was honored with the Corona Distinguished Citizen Award. Bill earned a BA at California State University, Fullerton and an MPA from the University of Southern California.

Bill is married with two children and enjoys running, reading, photography and community service activities. In April of 2004, he raced in the 108th annual Boston Marathon.
