Purpose

Consists of 7 Members. Promote the public health, safety, and general welfare by providing for the identification, protection, enhancement, perpetuation, and use of historical resources such as buildings, structures, sites, places and districts within the City that reflect special elements of the City’s architectural, artistic, cultural, historical, political, and social heritage. Ord. 2554 c.s., Adopted 8-1-89; Ord. 2798, Adopted 4-1-97.

Qualifications

Three members shall be appointed from among professionals in the following disciplines: architecture; history; architectural history; urban planning; archeology or other historic/preservation-related disciplines such as American studies; American civilization; cultural geography; cultural anthropology to the extent that such professionals are available to the City, one member from a recognized preservation or historical society and the remaining members may be laypersons including owners of historic resources.
