Purpose
Consists of 7 Members. Hold hearings on all applications for conditional use permits and variances for the use and development of lands within the jurisdiction of the Commission; hold hearings on any matter concerning the commercial and recreational development of the harbor; further the commercial and recreational development of the harbor; be advised and may recommend to the Council on all new lease and sublease arrangements relating to harbor lands, facilities, or improvements; be advised and may report to the Council on all subleases with firms doing business within its jurisdiction; be advised and may report to the Council on the assignment of all leases and subleases with the City relating to harbor lands, facilities , or improvements. The Commission shall advise the City Council on any matters concerning the Harbor when so requested by the Council. Qualifications
Consists of 7 members: 1 member shall be a boat owner who regularly uses the boating facilities in King Harbor; 1 member shall represent the Harbor and Pier Lessee’s Association; 5 members shall have backgrounds in one of the following disciplines:
- A State registered civil or structural engineer, or five years' practical experience in a related engineering field;
- A member of the Bar of the State;
- A State-licensed architect; a certified public accountant, or an officer of a financial institution;
- An oceanographer or marine engineer with five years' practical experience;
- A state-licensed real estate broker;
- A property manager with five years practical experience;
- A State-Licensed general contractor;
- A practicing economic or financial consultant with five years' experience;
- A commercial developer with five years' experience;
- An executive or owner/operator of a business;
- Experience with a public or government entity;
- A management level employee with at least five years experience in harbor recreational development.
