Picture yourself strolling above the Pacific Ocean on the Redondo Beach Pier or taking a boat ride on the majestic Pacific Ocean. Add a delightful meal with a view of a sunset in the western sky containing a seemingly-endless array of color. The Pier and Harbor offers this experience.

Recreation is also abundant throughout King Harbor. The City's Harbor & Pier area occupies over 150 acres of land and water area and offers many types of activity for the out-of-town guest and the area resident. Enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, shopping, biking and in-line skating. Stay at our hotels, relax in our parks, or listen to live music at the Pier.

Here, you will find every type of restaurant and shop; from fast food to fine dining, from art to toe rings, from pizza to steak and seafood, from kites to jewelry. Many restaurants also offer ocean and marina views, banquet facilities, as well as nightly entertainment. Notable restaurants include, Kincaid's Bayhouse, the Cheesecake Factory, the Chart House, Blue Water Grill, Captain Kidd's, and El Torito. 

At the City's waterfront, you will find some of the best hotels in the South Bay area. There are over 600 rooms in three hotels (the Crowne Plaza, the Portofino, and the Sunrise Best Western Hotels) with many more within a short distance. These hotels also offer wedding and banquet facilities. For those who would like to live practically on the Pacific Ocean, there are over 200 apartment units available for purchase or lease.

Within the Harbor, four marinas offer approximately 1,400 slips for private craft. The City provides its own Harbor Patrol services. Slip sizes vary throughout the four marinas and those wishing for guest dock services must contact the Harbor Patrol or a marina.

The City's Pier and Harbor area is  slightly different from other areas of the City. Because the City owns all of the land, the City receives more than sales and other taxes from the businesses in this area. The City also receives a rental for use of the property, usually on a sales basis (the City receives a percentage of every dollar spent in the Pier and Harbor area). These revenues go right back to support the City's obligations in the area (maintenance of current public improvements and facilities, as well as for new developments). They are used not only to cover our administration function, but also General Fund portions of other Departments operating within the area. Other Departments include: Police, Fire (Harbor Patrol), Public Works (Maintenance), Recreation (Seaside Lagoon), Planning, Building & Safety, Engineering and City Attorney.
