The Quality of Life (QOL) unit is designated to assist in facilitating services and providing resources for those experiencing homelessness in Redondo Beach. The QOL team works alongside several service providers to identify those in need in the community, to identify long-term solutions for these issues, and cultivate trusting relationships. Officers assigned to QOL work to connect persons to support groups, housing resources, transportation, and mental health services. QOL also facilitates and participates in clean-ups throughout the city in partnership with support service providers such as Harbor Interfaith and LAHSA (Los Angeles County Homeless Services Authority). Additionally, the QOL team hosts Homeless Court once a month at our Police Annex facility (200 N. Pacific Coast Highway).

The QOL team also consists of the Mental Evaluation Team (MET). MET is a co-response unit with the Redondo Beach Police Department and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) that responds to calls for service involving psychiatric emergencies in the community. The MET team consists of a sworn officer who is partnered with a clinician from the Department of Mental Health. This partnership ensures that individuals experiencing psychiatric emergencies receive appropriate care and safe transportation to treatment facilities.
