On January 1, 2023, the City of Redondo Beach started enforcing the 2022 California Building Codes. California building codes can be found online at the California Building Standards Commission 2022 Codes.

Permits for all projects approved under the current 2019 CBSC must be issued before Wednesday, December 21, 2022, or before the expiration of the plan review date.

Proposed plans in compliance with the 2019 CBSC for specific buildings or structures consisting of commercial, industrial, multi-family, and custom single-family dwellings (or additions/alterations thereto), must be submitted for plan review no later than Wednesday, December 21, 2022.  The proposed plans must be completed to the satisfaction of the Building Official for review on compliance with the 2019 CBSC. Incomplete submittals will not be accepted, with no exceptions.

After completion of the plan review for 2019 CBSC submittals, all required construction permits must be obtained within 365 days from the original submittal date.  No extensions of the plan review will be granted by the Building Official, upon the effective date of January 1, 2023, of the 2022 California Building Standards Codes.  Permits issued prior to the plan check expiration will be good for 12 months.  If no work has commenced the plans must be updated and resubmitted for a compliance review under the 2022 California Building Standards.
